Bubble wrap

What is bubble wrap?
Bubble Wrap is a PE protective plastic film, manufactured with 30% or more of recycled material, consisting of air-filled bubbles that are used to protect breakable products during transit.
Bubble Wrap absorbs shocks, knocks and movements in transit, helping items to remain unaffected by the abrasions and jerks faced, and is very light and hence does not impact postage costs.
How to use bubble wrap
It is important to select the correct type of Bubble Wrap depending on the items being protected. The two main types of Bubble Wrap are small bubble wrap and large bubble wrap. The right wrap for the product depends on the item size.
The most effective to use bubble wrap is to pack it with the bubbles on the inside. This reduces the amount of possible snagging and bursting of the bubbles.
Bubble wrap
The most popular bubble used in industry is the small Bubble Wrap, which has bubbles of 10mm in diameter. Large Bubble Wrap has larger bubbles, which are 20mm in diameter. The industry standard length for rolls of small bubble wrap is 100m, and for large bubble wrap is 50m. Both types of Bubble Wrap are available in various different widths.
Can bubble wrap be used for insulation?
Bubble wrap has insulation properties and can be used as an insulation barrier in temperature-sensitive packaging. The more layers you use the higher the level of insulation. If you are using bubble wrap to insulate your greenhouse then the larger bubble would be the best option.
Can bubble wrap be used on delicate surfaces?
If you are using bubble wrap on coated/painted surfaces it is important that the coating has had the full curing time as a faint imprint of the bubbles can mark the surface. If you need to use bubble wrap to protect your items before the full curing time we strongly recommend a layer of PE foam is used first.
Can bubble wrap be recycled?
All of our Bubble Wrap is manufactured with at least 30% of recycled content and is 100% recyclable. Bubblewrap can’t be recycled at home with kerb side refuse collections but you can recycle it with plastic bags at supermarket collection points.
Recyclable bubble vs oxo degradable Bubble
Biodegradable plastic and Oxo-degradable plastic degrade to microplastic and never actually degrade as they are not compostable.
Bubble wrap can be manufactured from recycled plastic, is 100% recyclable and can be recycled many times over. Therefore recyclable bubble wrap is better for the environment than oxo-degradable.
